Hi Lauren!

I wish you wonderful travels back to your Somerville home. We discussed a possible board meeting in the Boston area sometime soon - so perhaps our paths will cross then.

I can't wait to get out hard shell kayaking with you next summer. Check out the 5 day whitewater kayaking clinics at MKC, the Madawaska Kanu Centre.

As we discussed, they have superb instruction, food, and location right on the Madawaska River. I recommend going in July (after black fly season). It would be a really fun thing to do with one or more friends or solo.

It was such a wonderful trip this week! Wishing you a most graceful transition.

Peace,
heather

Wild Gift Project

Project Title
Lighten the Load

Mission, Goal, and Results
The mission of Lighten the Load, during 2006/07, is to successfully encourage three affordable housing managers in the Boston metropolitan area to make their existing housing projects as resource efficient as possible using green building retrofit techniques. The long range goal of Lighten the Load is to improve the environmental performance and reduce the operating costs of affordable housing, while improving the health of the low-income residents.

Within five years, Lauren expects the project to be supported by a variety of local as well as national organizations and adopted by a majority of the community development corporations who manage affordable housing projects in Massachusetts.

Lauren’s personal purpose is to visualize and actualize a more just and sustainable society.

Lighten the Load - An Update and New Initiatives

Lighten the Load has found its feet. Born with the support of the Wild Gift program and made successful through the insightful guidance of a nation-wide network of advisors and mentors, Lighten the Load had a successful first year.
