Current Work Mission and Description:
I am currently a PhD candidate studying access to water. The majority of the time I get to ask hard questions and try to see if there are practical ways to answer them. The Wild Gift network continues to provide perspective and inspiration to my work.

My dissertation research considers mechanisms of "sustained access" to rural water including the role of technology, capital, knowledge, social identity, and authority. In addition, I am a whitewater river guide passionate about free-flowing rivers. My related water interests have led me to work in a several countries in Latin America and southeast Asia, and most recently closer to home in California and West Virginia.
Mentoring Expertise Offered:
The most rewarding part of graduate school, thusfar, has been helping other students in my program develop their research in ways that are exciting to them, build on their unique gifts, and connect the details of their work with broader patterns of positive change.
From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

You came to prepare for a life of service, with the understanding t… Continue

Hi Heather! It is so neat to think that I was right in your neck of the woods. Unfortunately I'm back in Chicago right now. The New River was great . . . the upper New was the place for us, since we were in a canoe. I'd love to raft the lower part of the river sometime though! Thank you for mentioning our project to the National Committee for the New River! I would love to get in touch with them to discuss how we can collaborate. Thank you again!
