The Earth Justice Initiative (EJI) works to support Indigenous communities who are seeking to protect their Traditional Territories in Ontario’s Boreal Forest – the largest wild forest ecosystem in North America.
EJI supports Indigenous communities in two ways:
First, EJI recruits, trains, and supports a growing network of young organizers working to help communities protect their traditional territories from unwanted logging and mining.
Second, EJI fosters powerful working alliances with Indigenous leaders and environmental, labor, student, faith, and human rights organizations, to build support for community efforts in order secure large scale protection for the Boreal Forest and respect for Indigenous rights.
Mentoring Expertise Offered:
I can offer mentoring in the strategic use of grassroots public pressure techniques in campaigns to raise awareness of critical issues and facilitate policy change.
